Many locals spend quality time walking or cycling along the promenade, stopping for a refreshing coffee along the way or one of many pubs situated on the Overcliff. Christchurch is a pretty historic town and one of the most popular places to visit in the area. It has numerous historical sites, including castle ruins, the magnificent ancient Christchurch Priory and a medieval bridge running over the River Avon and River Stour. The High Street offers a good variety of independent shops and a large traditional market is held every Monday. The Regent Centre, also located on the High Street, offers opera, ballet and a variety of theatre productions. Don’t forget to experience the wonderful Captain’s Club Hotel, near Tuckton, and enjoy the scenic river views over the River Stour while sipping cocktails.
Bournemouth offers a great seaside experience with its famous pier and rows of multi coloured beach huts. There are plenty of shows, musicals and bands to experience at the BIC and also at the grand Pavilion Theatre, which will keep you entertained all year round. Further east you will encounter the enchanting pined chines leading to Poole beaches.
For an artistic and cultural option, head to the Russell Cotes Museum and Art Gallery, or if you want to explore marine and sea life wonders, then take a trip to the Bournemouth Oceanarium.
